About Channel

Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ) is a semi-state company and the public service broadcaster of Ireland. It produces and broadcasts programmes for television, radio and the Internet. The television broadcasts began on 31 December 1961, making it one of the oldest public service broadcasters in the world.

RTÉ is financed by a television licence fee and through advertising. RTÉ services are funded by advertising and the licence fee.

RTÉ caters to three youth groups: for 0-6 year olds, RTÉjr delivers a mix of both original and acquired live action and animated programming. For 7-15 year olds, TRTÉ on RTÉ TWO delivers a mixed schedule on weekday afternoons and weekend mornings. For young adults, there is an early evening strand 'Two Tube'.

RTÉ young peoples aims to explore the world in which youngsters in Ireland are growing up. Content which reflects this experience is of particular interest to us.
