About Channel

BBC Worldwide is the main commercial arm and a wholly owned subsidiary of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC). The business exists to support the BBC public service mission and to maximise profits on its behalf.

We do this through investing in, commercialising and showcasing content from the BBC around the world, in a way that is consistent with BBC standards and values.

We also build the reach and reputation of the BBC brand overseas and champion British creativity.

Programme Interests

BBC Worldwide Australia operates five locally programmed channels across Australia and New Zealand, UKTV, BBC Knowledge and CBeebies in Australia and UKTV NZ and BBC Knowledge in New Zealand.

Looking For

Channels form a core offering in the Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) market with BBC First premiering in Australia in 2015. Bespoke British entertainment channel UKTV and BBC-branded channel BBC Knowledge are available in both countries, with CBeebies also available in Australia. The team is also responsible for the distribution and promotion of BBC World News. In Australia our channels are broadcast on the Foxtel subscription TV platform as well as IPTV platforms Flip TV and Fetch TV. In New Zealand they are broadcast on SKY TV.

The ANZ TV programme sales team negotiate with networks such as the ABC, Seven, Nine, SBS, Prime and TVNZ for BBC Worldwide's catalogue, with an increasing number of deals done with digital platform operators such as Netflix, Stan and Lightbox.  The sales team also seek out co-production funding from these partners and sell formats from the catalogue, such as The Great Australian Bake Off, which has been produced for Australian audiences on Lifestyle FOOD, and Coast Australia which has had two series on Foxtel’s HISTORY channel, and a first series has recently been commissioned for New Zealand.

The ANZ team also works with partners to bring BBC Worldwide audiences closer to their favourite shows and talent through a host of live events – including Louis Theroux Live On Stage and Pole to Pole with Steve Backshall, as well as offering advertising opportunities for the BBC's world renowned bbc.com news and feature sections.
